GTA 6 on the PS5 versus the Xbox Series X

So the other day, I stumbled across a video pertaining to the release of GTA 6 on major consoles. In such video, it's stated that the PS5 would have a more optimized version of GTA 6 at launch and insinuated that the PS5 had an SSD while the Xbox Series X did not. As an avid fan of something called the "Truth", I decided to write a full analysis of the situation (which noone asked for). Well, first of all, to be honest, the video contained a mixture of the truth and falsehood (as most do in this day and age). Second of all, in terms of raw specs the Xbox Series X possesses a FASTER CLOCKING custom made 8 core AMD CPU, which makes the most difference in situations like these (GTA 6 is a simulation game thus being very CPU-heavy) and even in terms of raw graphical processing power we have the Xbox Series X edging out its competitor by TWO TERAFLOPS (~12.7 vs ~10.28).

And while it IS true that there is indeed a partnership between Sony and Rockstar, there is ALSO one between Microsoft and Rockstar, and they have been avidly working to make the same progress in optimizing for this console as well. Rockstar has been avidly working to make it such that the game will have a 60fps version for all consoles, and a stable one at that, and well due to the better specs of the Xbox Series X, that very well may be the case on Xbox. Not only that, they are also working to implement a 60 fps variation on the XBOX SERIES S which only clocks in at about 4 TERAFLOPS in terms of graphical power and can be bought for as low as 70 euros in some cases, but the reason this idea is even possible to ponder upon is due to the Xbox Series S CPU having a -.2GHz difference from the Xbox Series X and it actually slightly OUTPERFORMS the Playstation 5 (even though differences are quite negligible in real world applications ). Be it as it is, this is huge for the accessibility of this highly esteemed game which the people have been waiting 13 years for.

Anyways, getting to the most important part: the OPTIMIZATION itself. Optimization in the context of game development has always been something very delicate, a trade off between user experience, performance and something very important in the home consoles: STABILITY. When people buy a home console as opposed to a PC (which may very well be cheaper in this day and age), they do so to achieve the satisfaction of being able to plug in their console and ready to play every IMPORTANT game there is. As such, for a game as demanding as GTA 6 (which relatively actually isn't THAT demanding, w rockstar), the optimization is as necessary as ever and with it come the tricky tradeoffs. As mentioned before, Rockstar is trying to implement a 60 FPS version with worse graphics and a 30 FPS more quality and stability oriented option as well. What this means, though, with the difference in processing power between the two consoles of question here (the PS5 and the Xbox Series X) is that the PS5 will need more optimization, whether that be in terms of graphics, realism or some other part of the user experience, to be on par with the Xbox Series X's finalized optimized version. And with the passing of time, and more updates being rolled around (and the heavy pockets of Microsoft) the Xbox Series X will have a BETTER GTA 6 gaming experience in ** almost EVERY aspect** there is. Of course, the BEST gaming experience, objectively, goes to the PS5 Pro but that thing starts at 900 DOLLARS.

thats about it.
